Where Are the Tools?

When Max enters the garage via the Price’s living room door, she will be in a large room lined with cupboards. Along the left side of the room, to the right of David’s gun cabinet, is a washer-dryer combo, on top of which Max may see the tools precariously balanced on some boxes labeled “William’s Stuff”.

How to Reach Them

Look up at the tools and Max will comment that she can’t reach them; therefore, look down at the washing machine instead as Max will now have the option to turn it on.

The vibration of the machine will knock the tools on the floor beneath a cabinet, once again out of the player’s reach. Look down towards where they fell and Max will see a loose piece of cardboard on the floor beside them. Max can push this cardboard under the cabinet but doing so now will yield no results.

To get the tools, simply rewind to before the tools fell, place the cardboard under the cabinet and turn the washing machine on. Now Max can pull the cardboard out and grab the tools hassle-free, and the player should be well on their way to fixing her precious camera.

David’s Secrets (Spoilers Ahead)

To the right of the washer/dryer, along the back wall, is a row of wooden cabinets. The cupboard on the left, closest to the washing machine, can be opened to reveal what’s inside.

In there is a map of Blackwell marked with red circles and a TV set that Max can turn on. Do so and she will see that the “tiny tool” himself, David, has live camera feeds of rooms around the house and will wonder whether Joyce and Chloe know about this. A small dialogue icon will appear in the top left corner of the screen, indicating that this information will come in useful later.

Now, all the way to the right, at the end of the row, sits a set of files atop a cupboard. Grab them and Max will accidentally make them tumble to the ground and land in a pool of car oil.

What the player chooses to do now will have a small impact on how David acts later in the game. If Max chooses to look through the files, she can see David has been keeping tabs on Blackwell students, particularly Kate Marsh, taking discreet photos of her. Max can talk to Chloe about this when discussing David’s motives later in the episode.

If Max leaves any evidence of her snooping around the garage, David will bring this up later. However, using Max’s rewind powers to put the files back and close the TV cupboard will make him totally unaware. Whatever the player chooses will not have a significant impact on the game, only changing some specific dialogue.

Life is Strange: Remastered Collection is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with a Switch version releasing later in 2022.
