After choosing Steph or Ryan and meeting one of them on the apartment’s roof, Officer Pike finally shows up at the festival, but he ends up taking Alex into the station and tries to get her to sign an affidavit. Should Alex sign Typhon’s document or take Pike’s fear away?

What Happens if Alex Signs the Affidavit?

If Alex signs the Typhon affidavit in Life is Strange: True Colors, Pike will look relieved and tell her that she did the right thing. Alex looks dejected, but while talking with somebody else at the end of the chapter, she reveals that she only signed it to get Typhon to leave Steph and Ryan alone. Alex is still determined to solve the mystery of Gabe’s death and won’t back down.

It may seem like Alex is making the right choice by protecting her friends and not manipulating Pike’s emotions, but if she signs the affidavit during this important decision in Life is Strange: True Colors and doesn’t take Pike’s fear, events carry on the same. However, Pike will not have the courage to take Alex’s side during a key moment in Chapter 5. It is not recommended for players to sign the document if they want to get the ‘good’ ending.

What Happens if Alex Takes Pike’s Fear?

If players choose to take Pike’s fear, he will let Alex go without signing the Typhon affidavit and keeps the USB with evidence against Diane and Typhon. The rest of Chapter 4 will play out in much the same way as after signing the affidavit.

Unlike the decision to take Charlotte’s anger or leave her alone, taking Pike’s fear is actually the right decision to make if players want to get the ‘good’ ending. It’s the only way to secure his allegiance to Alex during an important moment in Chapter 5. It is recommended to take Pike’s fear if players want Alex’s story to have a satisfying conclusion.

This is one of the instances where the morality of using Alex’s powers in Life is Strange: True Colors is a little questionable. Taking Charlotte’s anger is framed as a horrible choice, whereas taking Pike’s fear gives players a huge advantage. There’s not really a satisfactory answer as to why one is a good thing and the other is a negative.

Life is Strange: True Colors is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and will release later for Switch.
