MORE: Longest OT games in NHL history | String of bad hits, injuries steal spotlight in Lightning, Penguins
Lightning coach Jon Cooper said after the game that Bishop’s x-rays showed no structural damage. On Saturday he told reporters that did not have a definite answer on Bishop’s playing status
The injury happened in the first period of Game 1 against the Penguins. Bishop appeared to take an awkward turn, then grabbed his left knee and could be heard screaming in pain.
Bishop, who is a Vezina Trophy finalist for the NHL’s top goalie, was replaced in goal by Andrei Vasilevskiy, and the Lightning won the game 3-1. Vasilevskiy made 25 saves in relief.
The series continues in Pittsburgh on Monday.
