With Like a Dragon: Ishin set to launch near the end of next month, Sega and Ryu ga Gotoku Studio have already shown off plenty of what to expect from the remake. Ishin features the return of the franchise’s iconic style-based combat system, allowing players to switch between different stances to change their attacks. Much like its modern counterparts, Ishin will include a variety of mini-games for players to dive into with popular games like karaoke and chicken racing confirmed. Now, Sega is showing off Ryoma Sakamoto’s farming skills in a new trailer.

A short trailer for Like a Dragon: Ishin titled “Another Life Overview” introduces players to the Like a Dragon spinoff’s farming mechanics. Players will be able to grow a variety of crops on their small farm with a cooking mini-game attached, tasking players with chopping leeks and grilling fish. The farming and cooking mini-games will also act as an opportunity for players to earn money, creating dishes based on orders to sell to customers. Ishin even gives players the option to adopt a cat or dog for Ryoma to care for as part of its home life.
While Ishin is set to feature a variety of mini-games for players to try out, the remake will retain several elements of the original game, as well as other entries in the franchise. The original version’s card-based skill system will return with the Like a Dragon: Ishin remake, as well as past characters in the series cameoing in new roles. Producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto also confirmed some of the franchise’s most popular songs will feature as part of the game’s updated soundtrack, including fan-favorite “Bakamitai.”
With Like a Dragon: Ishin delving into the history of the franchise’s story, the future of Like a Dragon is well underway from Sega and Ryu ga Gotoku Studio. Alongside the reveal of the Ishin remake, Sega officially announced Like a Dragon 8 with a release window set sometime in 2024. The Like a Dragon studio would later reveal a remake of Like a Dragon: Kenzan could be considered if Ishin proves successful. 2023 and 2024 look to be busy years for the Like a Dragon franchise with multiple new games coming.
Like a Dragon: Ishin will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 23rd, 2023.
